American Tank Lines is seeking an experienced and motivated Diesel Truck & Trailer Mechanic to join our growing trucking operation in Leesburg, Florida.
We operate a fleet of Class 8 Freightliner tractors and liquid tanker trailers. We are looking for a dependable, skilled mechanic who can diagnose problems, perform repairs, and keep our equipment operating safely and efficiently.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, including turbos, injectors, cooling systems, and related components.
- Perform computer diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Diagnose and repair air brake systems, ABS, and air systems.
- Repair transmissions, differentials, and driveline components.
- Diagnose and repair suspension and steering systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on Class 8 tractors and tanker trailers.
- Inspect and repair trailer components, including valves, pumps, hoses, and related equipment.
- Perform DOT inspections and safety checks.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Perform welding and minor fabrication as needed.
- Identify potential mechanical problems before equipment breaks down.
- Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience repairing Class 8 diesel trucks and trailers.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with Freightliner trucks and Detroit Diesel engines preferred.
- Knowledge of diesel electrical systems, air brakes, and emissions systems.
- Tanker trailer maintenance experience is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must have own tools.
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
